FIRST AID COURSE

First Aid

Practical and theory in yacht seamanship and navigation requires good knowledge of the Inshore Syllabus.

Duration: 10 days

STCW 95 (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers) courses are mandatory training courses for those who want to work in the nautical and maritime sector. The STCW Convention, established by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), aims to ensure that shipboard personnel are adequately trained and prepared to carry out their duties safely, protecting both workers and the marine environment.

The acronym STCW 95 refers to the convention adopted in 1995 (although in 2010 it was updated with the so-called "Manila Amendments", becoming STCW 2010, but the term STCW 95 is often used). There are various STCW courses, some of which are mandatory for all seafarers, others specific to certain roles on board.

Here are the basic STCW courses:

1. Survival and Rescue: Training on how to use emergency and survival equipment, such as life rafts, life jackets, and sea rescue techniques.

2. Basic Fire Fighting: Trains seafarers to prevent and manage fires on board, including safe evacuation.

3. First Aid: Provides first aid skills to manage medical emergencies on board while waiting for professional assistance.

4. Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities: Teaches proper behavior on board and emergency management for the safety of personnel and passengers.

These courses are required for anyone working on commercial vessels, professional yachts or cruise ships, and the certifications obtained must be updated periodically, according to the regulations in force.
